We challenge you to a FHS vs BHS wing eating contest. Sign up by 5:45 and the winner will receive $100 in cash!

Also, we invite you to stop by and sign the SAYINGS FOR SARA banner (in honor of Sara Symons)..The banner will then be presented to her parents.

Parking and Cancer Challenge

Want to have a great parking spot for the home football games? PTSO is sponsoring a Scholarship Parking area again this year in the parking lot directly in front of the South Building next to J Street. First come, first serve, the spaces will cost $10 with ALL proceeds going to the PTSO Scholarship fund for deserving BHS seniors. Look for the Scholarship Parking banner!  First come, first serve!! 

We will also be supporting the Northwest ARKANSAS Childrens’ Shelter during the Fayetteville game on 9/23.  Varsity Cheer/Varsity Dance will be sporting t-shirts for this cause. 

Also, we will be supporting the TEEN CANCER CHALLENGE again this year….that game is Oct. 28^th vs. Springdale……t-shirts will be sold Oct. 10-14^th…..all BHS Spirit Team members will be selling them…..parents:  reminder, you are welcome to take orders from your office, school, etc….we will bag those shirts for your cheerleader/dancer for you to deliver.  More information will come regarding this!

Mum for Homecoming

The BHS PTSO will be taking orders for these cool homecoming mums at the game Friday night. Please pass this photo on to your friends who you think would like to know about this. They are $20, personalized with names/numbers, sport,club, choir, band, dance, cheer, alumni(year), or anything you would like on one ribbon, the other will say BHS. The mums will then be available for you to pick them up at your convenience at Matkin's Flower Shop, Thursday or Friday, Oct. 8th or 9th between 9am and 5pm. We will have order forms in the north office after Friday

**NEW COUCHES have been ordered for the locker room.  They should arrive in the next couple of weeks. 

ALL:  Team Pictures are as follows: I have picture packets to pass out to teams and am going to ask that they put in their cheer/dance duffle bag……prices for packages range from $12.00 - $60.00…..you can purchase a group shot (1-8X10 Sports Mate plus 2-3X5 individual for $20.00….just to give you an idea…..also, VARSITY ONLY:  if you want to purchase both groups, uniform and casual, you will need 2 checks and will use 2 envelopes, 1 for each order….they will have extra envelopes at Bogle…Parents are welcome.  Please be aware of where you park and walk at Bogle.  Thanks!

2 great causes for Spirit Teams

Parents:  I need some help please. We have two great causes to fundraise for this football season.  The best thing about fundraising on either of these events is the fact that the girls/guys wear these shirts a lot so there is a lot of exposure for great causes year round. 
" One is the Teen Cancer Challenge.  The game will be Friday, Oct. 28th vs. Springdale at Tiger Stadium.  Cheerleaders/Dancers will be selling t-shirts for this cause.  T-shirts will be on sale the week of Oct. 10-14th.  We will also collect money in the stands at this game and we will take dollar donations for the balloon lift off when we sell tshirts.  The focus of the fundraising this year is to support a hematology/oncology clinic at the Arkansas Children's Hospital in Lowell.  This would allow children in NWA to receive chemotherapy treatments, blood work and follow-up care at the Lowell clinic instead of traveling to Little Rock for these services.  There is also an anonymous match of $25,000.  We have raised a large sum of money in the past for this cause and would love to do so again this year.  The cheerleaders/dancers receive a free t-shirt for every 10 shirts they sell.  This year….if they sell less than 10, their cost for a shirt is only $5.00.  I would love to have some sponsorship for some tees for this as well if possible. 
" Below is the second cause.  I would love to do this with Fayetteville.  We play at Fayetteville on Sept. 23…..I think this is another great cause that focuses on children.  Does anyone know of any company who might like to sponsor the Varsity Cheer/Dance t-shirts for this one?  We have 26 cheer and 12 dancers and 2 managers.

Sorry, no dunking booth for us this year.  Just didn’t work out for “our kids” to be in it.  We will face paint, etc….for donations for Joplin at first home game, etc…..

JV-VAR CHEER:

Reminder:  EVERYONE on JV-VAR is welcome to try out for the BHS VAR COMPETITION TEAM.  Please keep in mind that this team is built to compete at a very high level.  We will practice at least 1 time a week and 1-2 times if necessary.  I plan to schedule the weekly practice during an evening when the gym is available, probably a WEDNESDAY or maybe THUR.  I will do my best to make this a consist day of the week.  I will try NOT to use a Sunday afternoon practice but it is sometimes our only choice due to volleyball games and gym availability due to where our mats are located and if there is a volleyball game(s) or if the s. commons is being used.  I am in the process of working on the practice schedule.

WE need people who are willing to work hard and commit to the team.  Anyone making this team is expected to maintain a high level of commitment. (i.e. work on skills, conditioning, tumbling, etc.) It is a privilege to be on this team, not a right.  We want to TAKE STATE!!

We are considering the possibility of a JV level, small competitive team.  This will not be decided until after the VAR COMP TEAM is cut. No guarantees!

·       Actual Tryout will be on Saturday, Aug. 6^th from 3-4 PM in WEST GYM….15 min. break and then we will text those of you who make team.  Goal for TEAM is 20 with 2-4 alternates. 

·       Practice for the COMP TEAM MEMBERS will continue on this day from 4-6 PM.

·       We will also practice on Sunday, Aug. 7^th from 1-4 PM. 

9^th COMPETITION TEAM Choreography with B2:  All team members will compete.  We want you to have the experience.

Important Dates to Remember

I have bagged all uniforms. (Black/Wht summer outfit, filler pieces, new for 9^th, etc.)  I am taking them over to the TAC to Miss Laurie in the next 30 min.  Please stop by after 12:00 today or between 7:30-4:00 PM Thursday or Friday to pick up yours.  All 9^th Cheer and 9^th Dance have something to pick up and anyone who had filler pieces ordered have a pick up.  Reminder, if you are working “Stuff the Bus” this Saturday, we are wearing the BLK-WHT summer outfit for that event.  Again, thanks for volunteering to my parents/cheerleaders/dancers!

9-JV CHEER:  please bring a check for $78.00 for Stunt Clinic, made payable to BHS, the first day of clinic.  I have your release forms already.  VARSITY:  arrive by 8:15 AM to put out the mats.  9/JV arrive by 8:30 to sign in and give me your check.  Reminder, this event has been on the calendar since April (actually since March) and it is MANDATORY that all team members be at the clinic.  It is a stunt clinic and a team member missing doesn’t allow that stunt group to work and learn.  Any absence will count as unexcused unless previously approved due to family wedding, etc.  You get 3 unexcused absences for the year per practices/procedures.

Next, BALANCES were due at THREADS on July 15^th  We need to order the new warm ups to ensure that they are embroidered and ready to go when cold weather approaches.  I know that seems far way now but 100 cheerleaders/dancers later it takes a while to do.  Reminder, you can go by the shop or CALL and pay by credit card if you are out of town but receiving this message. We have participated in both of these events and have been asked to help again. Cheerleaders/Dancers: Please sign up for one shift. Parents: I need adult supervision at both events (i.e. one at each door at Wal-Mart or one adult w 9th shifts at DQ). Please arrive 10 min. before your shift begins for directions on what to do. BHS dancers do not go to Threads yet. They are fitting junior high teams first.

Dance Camp, June 13-15 (M-W) will be held at the iNFiNiTi Performing Arts Center not Barker MS
Location is : 1106 Northwest 10th St.
Bentonville
There are 3 studios at this location for our 3 teams!!!
The time frame for camp is 9am-12:00, lunch for 12-1, then back to dance from 1-4

Reminder: Check your tryout packet for days/times for cheer and dance tryouts ALL tryouts will be held in the WEST gym. Dance: black shorts(fingertip length or longer),capris,or jazz pants....need to be black ( black soffee w/white strip on side is acceptable),white t-shirt or white tank with first name on front and back (put last name initial if you think your name might be on someone else) I will have a black marker just in case. Cheer: black soffees,white t-shirt or tank (with name as above),good sports bra,tennis shoes. Other Details in Packet!! Make sure you have a CURRENT physical on file and that it is marked cleared.
